2008 Founders Day Scholarship and Alumni Association Achievement Scholarships

 

Founders Day Scholarship

The Alumni Association will present a one-year, full-tuition scholarship to a current University of Utah student the evening of the Founders Day Banquet on February 27, 2008. The recipient will be an outstanding student who has made contributions to the University and the community and who has overcome difficult circumstances or personal challenges.

Achievement Scholarships

In addition to the Founders Day Scholarship, the Alumni Association will also award Achievement Scholarships in the amount of $2,000 to selected students from among the Founders Day Scholarship pool of applicants. Achievement scholars will be recognized at the Association’s Spring Awards Banquet on April 17, 2008.

In order to qualify, applicants must:

  1. Be currently registered as a student at the University of Utah.
  2. Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
  3. Be able to attend the Founders Day Dinner on February 27, 2008, at Little America Hotel in downtown Salt Lake City (Founders Day Scholar only).
  4. Submit an official U of U transcript, and include:
    • a one-page sealed letter of recommendation (from an employer, teacher/professor, or community service professional);
    • a two-page, single-sided, double-spaced essay explaining the challenges or difficult circumstances you have overcome, and the inspiration or life experiences that have had an impact on you.
