JOIN THE “UPS MUSS BE HEADED TO NOTRE DAME CONTEST!”

Contest began October 24 with the Utah vs. Air Force game!

The MUSS has a question for you:

Would you like to attend the Utah at Notre Dame game on November 13, 2010, in South Bend, Ind.? Of course you do! And UPS is going to help a loyal MUSS member with a trip for two to perhaps the most storied regular season road game in Utah football history.

So, what would you do to win the trip to Notre Dame? How about if we made it very simple—that you just had to prove that you are a very loyal Ute?

Before we jump into the details, let’s talk about the great sponsor of the contest, United Parcel Service (UPS). UPS not only ships millions of packages worldwide, but they employ hundreds of University of Utah students each year. In fact, UPS is one of the largest employers of college-age students in Utah. And UPS would like you to consider working for them during the holiday season. If you’re interested, click here. (Clicking here is not required to enter the contest.)

UPS is going to provide the contest winner with a Utah at Notre Dame travel package for two, including:

  • Round-trip airfare and bus transfers
  • Two nights hotel accommodations
  • Two Utah-Notre Dame game tickets
  • Two admissions to the University of Utah Alumni Association pregame tailgate

The winner is also guaranteed not to have a shortage of friends through next November!

The contest is open to all MUSS student members, even if you are graduating before next fall!

A random drawing from all qualifying MUSS members will be held the week of December 14.

But UPS is providing more prizes! The second-place winner is going to get a trip for two to the Mountain West Conference Basketball Tournament in Las Vegas in March! Third place will get a $150 gift card to the University Campus Store, and we will announce more prizes before the contest wraps up!

The details of the UPS MUSS Be Headed to Notre Dame Contest are below, but basically, you have to attend the remaining (as of Oct. 24) four home football games, five of the first seven men’s basketball games, and one each of selected volleyball matches and women’s basketball games. The odds of you winning are based on the number of MUSS members who attend the required events.

Utah Recap

The Utes struggled a bit this past game against Wyoming but ended up pulling off a win, 22-10. The Utes trailed 3-10 during the first half. Jordan Wynn made his college debut, replacing Terrance Cain in the second half of the game.Wynn ended up throwing a touchdown to help the Utes finally pull ahead after a rough first half. Now the coaches are debating whether to start Wynn during next Saturday’s game against New Mexico. Eddie Wide made a major football achievement in his career, with a school record of his fifth 100-yard rushing game. He shares this achievement with Carl Monroe 1982, Mike Anderson 1998, and Darrell Mack 2007. Let’s hope the Utes can pull it together for next Saturday’s game!

Utah Preview

This will be New Mexico’s 1,000th game in its football team’s existence. New Mexico has won two out of its last three trips to the U, but this season, New Mexico has been struggling and is in last place in the MWC. New Mexico has lost 12 straight and hasn’t lost 13 in a row since 1967. New Mexico is 7-40 against teams that are ranked. New Mexico was the only team to give Urban Meyer a MWC loss, winning 47-35 in 2003.

Cross Promotion:

Starting Wednesday, Ute women’s soccer is in the MWC tournament in Provo, Utah.

Friday, the Women’s Basketball team takes on Chadron State in an exhibition game. The match starts at 7 p.m. in the Huntsman Center.
