Young Alumni Board

Message from the President

We are pleased to Link you with the U and with the work of our Young Alumni Board.

The University of Utah Young Alumni Board was established in 1979 as a means of reconnecting more-recent graduates with their alma mater. In a recent national survey, younger university alumni from throughout the U.S. indicated an interest in networking and participating in social opportunities.

We hope to engage those who are within 15 years of their connection to the U and to welcome the valuable contributions they can make to our campus and our community. YAB President’s message continued...

Mission Statement

The mission of the University of Utah Young Alumni Board is:

  • To sponsor and participate in events that benefit the community, the University, and University students.

  • To establish meaningful relationships between other young alumni and the University community.

What is the YAB?

  • The Young Alumni Board of Directors is composed of University of Utah alumni who have graduated within the past 15 years and who help sponsor and implement programs that contribute to the goals of the Alumni Association. They organize and participate in events that benefit the community, the University and its students, and encourage involvement with other young alumni and the University community.

  • The YAB works to provide opportunities for students and to recognize the achievements of University alumni. It offers yearly scholarships to students who have contributed to the community and the University through their academic achievements and enthusiastic involvement in scholastic and community activities. Scholarship proceeds are raised through the annual YAB Scholarship 5K & Kids Run, which takes place on Homecoming day. Runners in all age categories participate, and the event promises fun for everyone!

  • The YAB also presents the Par Excellence Award each year to an outstanding alumnus/a who has graduated within the last 15 years. The award recognizes the achievements and accomplishments of a former student who has given outstanding service to the University, the community, and his/her profession and is presented at the Annual Spring Awards Banquet.

The YAB is honored to represent alumni of the University of Utah. Their goal is to give back to their alma mater, which has provided them with a strong educational foundation that will influence and guide them throughout their lives.
