Alumni Association Boards

UUAA Board President Newsletter

NOTE FROM SPENCE

What a great time to be associated with the University of Utah Alumni Association! All of our boards are active and involved, the University is on a roll with a Nobel Laureate, USTAR is taking shape, a new master building plan is under way, we’re about to launch the public capital campaign, and our colleges and departments are doing exemplary work. All of which means we need your help, dedication, and service more than ever.

As I write this, the 2008 legislative session has begun, and while the Legislature has been good to higher education the past couple of years, we need to continue to keep them accurately informed of the U’s needs and priorities. Of critical importance this year is the capital building appropriation for new classrooms as part of the David Eccles School of Business building.

As Alumni Association board members, we are all legislative advocates, and I hope you’ll take an opportunity to let your legislative representatives know how you feel about the University and its needs. Public education continues to get a lot of attention, but it’s important to make sure that higher education does not get left out.

Thank you for all your support, dedication, and hard work in “Linking you with the U.” Together we can help the U remain one of the great universities in the country!

Spence Kinard
