The Fulton Challenge a Success!
With the successful completion of the fundraising efforts to renovate
the Block U and meet the Ira and Mary Lou Fulton challenge, the
University encourages and welcomes additional gifts made to specific
scholarship funds in academic areas throughout campus.
Ira A. and Mary Lou Fulton,
recipients of the Honorary
Alumnus/a Award,
Founders Day 2006
First built of lime in 1905 and poured in cement in 1907, the Block U has stood on the hill overlooking the University of Utah campus as a symbol of the state’s flagship institution of higher education.
Today, at 101 years old, the Block U funds will help provide:
- New concrete for the main structure
- New drainage system and improvements to prevent erosion
- New fiber-optic lighting and more
